西崖大学成立于1993年，已获得由美国教育部认可的全国认证机构——远程教育认证委员会(DEAC)和WASC高级学院和大学委员会(WSCUC)认证，这两家认证机构都是美国教育部和美国高等教育认证委员会CHEA认可的认证机构。西崖大学也被国际大学协会(IAU)承认，并被列入世界高等教育数据库(WHED)。
Westcliff University于2022年通过Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)的认证，这是全美针对商学院教学和科研院校最高级别的认证。如果就读商科专业，有了这个最高级别认证，移民局在 RFE 的时候不会问太多关于学校和课程的问题，毕竟这是一个全美 15%的商学院才有的认证。
学校有 MS Computer Science，MBA，DBA，MS Information Technology，MS Engineering Management 等多个 STEM 项目可以选择，都可以开学第一天开始CPT。
西崖大学的DBA项目是3年的Program，STEM专业可以申请3年OPT，3年CPT+3年OPT=6次抽签机会，是已知最长工作身份获得方式。
学校有4个学院：商学院、工程学院、教育学院和法学院，目前开设的Day 1-CPT硕士项目有Professional Track的工程学院的MS Computer Science, MS Information Technology, MS Engineering Management，教育学院的MA TOESL和商学院的MBA，博士专业有商学院的DBA。
1）DBA项目
为期三年，需要完成60个学分的课程，其中包括48学分专业课程和12学分细分方向专业课程。
DBA专业下设4个专业Concentrations：

– Information Technology Management
– Web Development & Application Management
– Applied Computer Science
2）Master of Business Administration (MBA)
MBA项目为期两年，需要完成36个学分课程，并且GPA在3.0以上才能毕业，其中包括 9 门核心课程（27 学分）和 3 门细分方向的专业课程（9 学分）。

3）MS Computer Science
MSCS项目提供必要的计算机系统、软件和电子通讯方面的高级技能和知识，为学生进入计算机科学和软件领域的高级职业做好准备，行业包括IT、医疗保健、制造、研发、教育、金融、以及其他需要先进计算机化的领域。
项目要求是两年完成36学分。
4）MS Information Technology
信息技术科学硕士 (MSIT) 学位课程提供了信息技术领域的整体视角，以确保学生掌握推动 21 世纪商业发展的大量技术知识。该课程提供了正确实施和管理 IT 安全策略以保护技术资产、基础设施和数据分析所需的技术和管理知识的结合。当前的信息技术专家将提高他们的技术敏锐度，并学习如何收集、分析和解释与各自领域相关的商业情报。
项目要求是两年完成36学分。
5）MS Engineering Management
MSEM项目主要在以下方面培养学生技能：1.评估工程管理的职能; 2.设计战略计划以提高效率和效力; 3.为制造和生产系统开发流程; 4.制定管理和激励多元化劳动力的战略; 5.以合乎道德的方式创建和改进工程管理。
项目要求是两年完成36学分。
6）MA Teaching English as a Second Language (MA TESOL)
TESOL项目主要是培养能够在全球非英语系或英语系国家担任教师工作的人才，教学重点在对英语的练习使用以及对英语所在文化的学习。现在TESOL也慢慢兴起一些细分的领域，学校称之为特定目的英语教学English for specific purposes(ESP)。主要是针对一些学术领域如机械、医药、计算机，还有商业及工作场所等设计的英语教学。
项目要求是两年完成36学分。
Onsite时间：一年三次（每学期一次）
Westcliff University的Professional MBA 和 Professional DBA 这两个项目都只需要每学期（4个月）到学校做一个周末的 residency 就可以。上课时间为周五下午 2 点到 9 点 30，周六早上 9 点到晚上 8 点，周日早上 8 点到下午 1 点 30，其余课程为网课。
学校可以在开学第一天批准CPT工作许可，每学期结束前学校会发邮件提醒renew CPT。CPT在学期间是完全连续的，所以每年可以用CPT工作365天。OPT快过期的同学可以选一个过期前最近的开学日期入学，入学前用OPT工作，入学后用CPT工作，除了转SEVIS的2-3天会有gap外可以无缝衔接。
DBA项目：毕业后可以申请三年OPT Extension。要注意的是，如果想申请OPT，那么full-time CPT则不能超过1年，可以采用11 个半月的full-time CPT + 半个月part-time CPT 工作或休假的模式，毕业后就可以继续申请3 年的 STEM OPT，相当于多了4年抽签和工作的机会！
每一学年（连续完成3个学期课程）可申请放假一学期，写毕业论文的时候也可以申请延期。
